TAEHUN : Dear M COUNTDOWN Magazine readers, you must have waited a long time. We, THE NEW SIX, are back as a complete group. Two, Three! Hello, this is THE NEW SIX!

It’s a comeback after about 9 months! Given the long hiatus as a complete group, the return of JUNHYEOK must have added an extra layer of significance. Please tell us what it’s like to be back!
 

JUNHYEOK : It’s been such a long time since THE NEW SIX returned as a complete group of six members. I feel incredibly happy and fulfilled! The six members have worked hard to prepare for this cool song, ‘FUEGO.’ Please give lots of attention and love!

The first digital single ‘FUEGO’ has been released! Could you explain what the title means?
 

KYUNGJUN : ‘FUEGO’ means ‘fire’ in Spanish, and it also carries the meaning of ‘to explode.’ It represents a signal flare for THE NEW SIX’s next chapter.

It’s different from the refreshing vibe of ‘Kick It 4 Now’ released last summer. Please explain what kind of song ‘FUEGO’ is!
 

SUNGJUN : ‘FUEGO’ is a song that tries to express the ambition and passion of THE NEW SIX. We aimed to convey the aspiration to burn away all negativity and anxieties, while also presenting a more mature and evolved image of us, unlike the previous albums, alongside a powerful charisma.

The performance is impressive, especially the choreography with JUNHYEOK in the center. Could you briefly explain about the choreography?

TAEHUN : This time, there is a lot of choreography that expresses flames to match the title of the song, ‘FUEGO’! We have many dance moves we work together to show the chemistry of THE NEW SIX. Notably, the choreographies featuring JUNHYEOK being lifted up or SUNGJUN jumping in the air emphasize the teamwork among members. It would be great if you could also pay attention to our chemistry when enjoying ‘FUEGO.’

Vivid colors are also prominent in the music video. Was there a memorable moment during shooting?
 

HYUNSOO : It was my first time filming with fire. I didn’t expect the rope would actually be set on fire. It was interesting and fun to see the rope burning in front of my eyes! By the way, we filmed safely, so THX, don’t worry. (Smiles)

What are the key points to watch on the ＜ M COUNTDOWN ＞ comeback stage?

JUNHYEOK : As ‘FUEGO’ means fire, we’ve prepared a truly hot and powerful performance. We hope you’ll pay attention to the intensified charisma of the even more grown and matured THE NEW SIX.

You’ve reunited with PENOMECO, who wrote your debut title track ‘MOVE.’ Please share any behind stories from your collaboration.

HWI : On the first day of recording ‘FUEGO,’ PENOMECO personally gave us autographed albums! He also said, “Good luck with the recording!” which was a great encouragement.

On the 20th, you also held a fan showcase to celebrate the release of ‘FUEGO.’ It must have been a very meaningful event since you were able to meet your fans, THX, after 9 months. Please share your thoughts on meeting your fans again.
 

HYUNSOO : We are very grateful to THX for waiting for us for 9 months and for joining the ‘FUEGO’ fan showcase. Thanks to THX, we made so many great memories that day!

It’s been two years since debut. Could you tell us about the areas of growth that members have noticed compared to the beginning?
 

SUNGJUN : Over the past two years, all members of THE NEW SIX have matured greatly in both skills and mindset. Especially with ‘FUEGO,’ it’s my first comeback as an adult this year, so it feels very exciting. I think my matured self is the focal point!

Do you have any goals you want to achieve through ‘FUEGO’?
 

TAEHUN : My goal is to win first place on a music show through ‘FUEGO.’ However, above all, I believe our biggest goal is to stay healthy and happy as a complete group!

Nowadays, various K-pop groups are taking the stage of major festivals overseas. Is there a stage that THE NEW SIX members dream of?
 

KYUNGJUN : There are many stages I wish to perform as THE NEW SIX. Personally, performing on the stage of ‘The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon’ is one of my dreams.
