KISS OF LIFE, who established themselves as one of the top newcomers of 2023 with their unique charm, charisma, and flawless music, are back with a bang with their new single ‘Midas Touch’ after almost five months! Still as energetic and sensual as ever, the group’s upbeat vibe remains impressive. M COUNTDOWN Magazine caught up with the four divas who are proving to be a force to be reckoned with as they transition from a hip-hop, R&B-oriented sound to a more 2000s dance pop style.

Hello, KISS OF LIFE! This marks your first activity since your remarkable debut year as a rookie girl group last year. Could you please share your thoughts on your journey so far and also greet the readers of M COUNTDOWN Magazine?
 

NATTY : First of all, a big thank you to our KISSY and everyone else who showed us so much interest. Thanks for the love, we’ve made a quick comeback and performed on award show stages, so time has been flying by. These experiences have helped us grow a lot and it’s making us eager to show various sides of ourselves in the future! Please continue to support KISS OF LIFE!

The single, ‘Midas Touch,’ draws attention with its unique title inspired by Greek Mythology. Could you explain what kind of song it is?

It’s a song that evokes memories of pop stars from the 2000s era with its melody and sound, aiming to make you fall in love with everything you touch!

I wonder which member of KISS OF LIFE is the most skilled, like the Midas Touch, turning everything touched into gold! On the other hand, I wonder which member might have the opposite, like a ‘minus touch.’
 

HANEUL : HANEUL and JULIE enjoy making things by hand and BELLE also enjoys bead crafts! I don’t think there is any ‘minus touch’ among us!

Unlike the previous title tracks such as ‘Shhh’, ‘Bad News’, ‘Nobody Knows,’ which showcased a hip-hop and R&B-oriented composition, ‘Midas Touch’ stands out with its impressive 2000s dance pop sound. What new aspects of KISS OF LIFE can we expect to see in ‘Midas Touch’?

Unlike the groovy tunes that KISS OF LIFE usually showcases, in ‘Midas Touch’ you’ll find the joy of rhythmic beats and impressive performances. Also, the diverse and unique styling!

Every section of the song is captivating, but which is the killing part of ‘Midas Touch’?

BELLE : The bridge part! Its lyrics, homage to our four solo tracks, followed by dynamic bursts of high notes, is appealing.

The music video was as spectacular as the sound! Do you have any particularly memorable moments from the music video shoot?

HANEUL : While previous music videos were based on storytelling, this one was filmed on set and using chroma key for the first time. So, the most memorable thing for me was shooting while doing motions in front of the empty green background!

When it comes to KISS OF LIFE, performances are always a highlight! Are there any particular points to watch out for in this performance?

NATTY : This time, we have two hot points in the choreography! One is the ‘Hot Girls Party Dance’! The other is a reinterpretation of the ‘Shaking Dance’ that was popular in the past, we prepared it with KISS OF LIFE style for a fantastic performance!

‘Midas Touch’ isn’t the only song that has been released. What about ‘Nothing’ that was released alongside?
 

BELLE : It’s a breakup song with a sad melody that conveys the emotion of accepting a love that has already ended. It’s the favorite song of all the members on this album!

NATTY has transformed with dramatic blonde hair this time! Your fans, KISSY, seem to be loving it. How does it feel like going on stage with a new look?

NATTY : I was excited but worried at the same time since KISSY and lots of others really liked the previous style of black hair with bangs. Luckily, everyone said the new look suits me well, so I’m really happy about it!! Please send lots of love to blonde NATTY as well❤️

In your last M-Countdown Magazine interview, you mentioned that your goal for 2023 was to win the Rookie of the Year award. Now that you've made a comeback after winning Rookie of the Year at so many awards, what are some new goals you'd like to accomplish?

JULIE : This year, I think my goal is to introduce the group KISS OF LIFE to more people! I want to have a hit song, get charted in music charts, and even win first place on music shows! I'm going to work hard to make this year a successful one where we accomplish many things!
